Once upon a time, a dog found a big, juicy bone. The dog held the bone tightly in its mouth and decided to go home to enjoy it.
On the way home, the dog had to
cross a narrow wooden bridge over a quiet stream. As it walked carefully, the
dog looked down into the water and saw its reflection. The dog thought it saw
another dog with an even bigger and juicier bone.
Feeling greedy, the dog wanted
that bone too. It thought having both bones would make it very happy. The dog
barked loudly, hoping to scare the other dog into dropping its bone.
But when the dog barked, its own bone fell into the stream. The dog watched sadly as its meal was carried away by the water. Then, it realized that the other dog was just its reflection and there was no other bone.
