• The Fox and the Crow

Trust

One day, a Crow found a tasty piece of meat. She picked it up with her beak and flew to a tree to enjoy her meal. Just then, a Fox happened to walk by and saw the Crow with the meat. He was very hungry and wanted that meat for himself, so he came up with a clever idea.

The Fox sat down under the tree and said, “Oh, Crow, you are the most beautiful bird I have ever seen! Your feathers are so shiny and lovely. I bet your voice is just as beautiful. Please, won’t you sing a song for me, Queen of Birds?”

The Crow was so pleased with the Fox’s kind words that she believed she must have a wonderful voice. So, she opened her beak to sing. But as soon as she did, the meat fell from her beak and landed on the ground. The Fox quickly snatched it up.

“Thank you for the meat,” the Fox said with a grin. “Your voice is fine, but you should have been smarter!”

Remember, not everyone who says nice things can be trusted.
