Persistence
One day, a Hare and a Tortoise decided to have a race. The Hare had been making fun of the Tortoise for being slow and heavy, and the Tortoise couldn't take the teasing anymore.
So, the
Tortoise suggested they race, and the Hare, feeling very sure of himself,
quickly agreed. "This slow Tortoise is going to make a fool of
himself," the Hare thought with a laugh.
On the
day of the race, they both started off together. The road was long, and soon,
the Hare was far ahead of the slow-moving Tortoise. Feeling confident, the Hare
decided to take a short nap since he was so far in the lead. But when he
finally woke up, he was shocked to see that the Tortoise was almost at the
finish line!
"No
way, this can't be happening! I must be dreaming!" the Hare exclaimed.
"I'll catch up to him—I can run so fast, there's still time to win..."
But it
was too late. The Tortoise, slow and steady, had already crossed the finish
line and won the race.
The lesson of the story is that if you keep trying and don't give up, you can be successful.
